Regulations Sanremo Half Marathon (21K)
The Organizing Committee of the San Remo Marathon, with the techical organization of the Pro San Pietro, with the approval of FIDAL – Italian Federation of Athletics – is organizing on Sunday, 3 December 2023 the 7th edition of the Competitive Race 21K San Remo Half Marathon, road race with a distance of 21.097 km, included in the FIDAL calendar and classified as ” National”.

CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION
Criteria for partecipation are summarized as follows:

1 – Athletes licensed in Italy
Based on what is found in the “Rules for the organization of events” issued by FIDAL, athletes licensed in Italy limited to persons of 20 years of age and older can participate if they are in possession of one of the following prerequisites:
- athletes licensed for 2023 by a society affiliated with FIDAL;
- athletes in possession of a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete) limited to persons of 20 years and older. Participation is however subject to:
- either the presentation of a valid medical certificate for competitive light athletics, that must be shown to the organization in the original, and retained as a copy in the files of the organizing society of each event. The medical certificate for non-resident foreigners can be issued by their own country, but the same examinations have to be conducted as those required by the Italian rules.
- medical visit;
- complete urine tests;
- electrocardiogram at rest and after activity;
- spirograph;
- or verification on the part of the organizer of the validity of a medical certificate for competitive light athletics through the Runcard database;
- or verification on the part of the organization of the validity of a medical certificate of competitive light athletics through the app downloaded to some electronic device.
- athletes licensed by a Sports Promotion Entity (Athletic Section) in possession of Runcard-EPS; participation is however subject to, other than the possession of the RUNCARD:
- either the presentation of a valid medical certificate of competitive light athletics, which must be shown to the organization in its original form, and retained as a copy in the files of the organizing society of each event. The medical certifcate for non-resident foreigners can be issued by their own country, but the same tests as those required by Italian rules must be carried out:
- medical visit;
- complete urine test;
- electrocardiogram at rest and after activity;
- spirograph;
- or verification on the part of the organizer of the validity of a medical certificate of competitive light athletics through the Runcard database;
- either the presentation of a valid medical certificate of competitive light athletics, which must be shown to the organization in its original form, and retained as a copy in the files of the organizing society of each event. The medical certifcate for non-resident foreigners can be issued by their own country, but the same tests as those required by Italian rules must be carried out:

2 – Athletes not licensed in Italy
Italian athletes/foreigners who are not licensed in Italy can participate, limited to persons of 20 years and older, if they are in possession of the following requisites:
- athletes with licenses of clubs affiliated with Overseas Federations of Light Athletics that are recognized by Iaaf. At the time of registration they must alternatively present:
- self-certification of possession of a license recognized by Iaaf. The self-certification will then, however, be signed in the original at the time of collecting the race bib.
- athletes in possession of a Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete) limited to persons of 20 years and older. Participation will however be subject to:
- either presentation of a valid medical certificate for competitive light athletics which must be shown to the organizers in the original and retained as a copy in the files of the organixing society of each event. The medical certificate for non-resident foreigners can be issued in their own country, but the same examinations as those required by the Italian rules must be carried out:
- medical visit;
- complete urine test;
- electrocardiogram at rest and after activity;
- spirograph;
- or verification on the part of the organizer of the validity of a medical certificate of competitive light athletics through the Runcard database;
- or verification on the part of the organization of the validity of a medical certificate for competitive light athletics through the app downloaded on some electronic device.
- either presentation of a valid medical certificate for competitive light athletics which must be shown to the organizers in the original and retained as a copy in the files of the organixing society of each event. Important notice (valid for all categories of participation):
Athletes licensed by other Federations (e.g. Italian Triathlon Federation) or Promotional Sporting Organizations recognized by CONI can participate in respect of the rules set out for the RUNCARD-EPS / RUNCARD + medical certificate for Light Athletics
Licensed athletes in possession of the Mountain & Trail RUNCARD cannot participate
Italian citizens registered to A.I.R.E. are considered as foreign residents
the medicate certificates must state that they are suitable for “competitive sports of the type of LIGHT ATHLETICS”
Medical certificate issued for other sports or with wording such as “race”, “running”, “marathon” or “half marathon” are not valid for participation
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE HALF MARATHON
a) online until 26 November on the official website of the event for payments with bank transfer
b) online until 1 December on the official website of the event for payments with credit card Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Paypal
c) direct registration at the desk of the organization open on the days indicated in the Race Program on the official website.
It will not be possible to register on the spot on the day of the race.
Participation for the purpose of tourism and sport for foreigners living abroad
According to the provisions of Art. 26 paragraph 4, 4.1 and 4.2 of the Rules for the Organisation of Events issued by FIDAL for the year 2023, the following may participate for the purposes of tourist-sporting foreign nationals resident outside of Italy may participate in the event if they are aged from 20 years of age (thousandth of age: 2003) onwards.
These athletes will participate in a non-competitive event that does not fall under the aegis of the FIDAL, although taking place at the same time as the competitive event.
These athletes will be identified with a different bib number and placed in an alphabetical order of arrival separate from the rankings of the competitive event and will not be eligible for prizes in in kind, in cash, vouchers, bonuses, engagements, reimbursement of expenses of any kind.
In order to participate, these athletes must present a form signed and stamped by a doctor, certifying their fitness for participation in a non-competitive marathon on the basis of the health regulations in force in their country of citizenship.

THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR THE MARATHON INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:
- medical assistance;
- insurance;
- official medal of participation (for athletes ranked at the arrival);
- technical T-shirt, reserved for those who register online, with payment forwarded by 20 November (the date when the organization receive the payment)
- race pack;
- race bib;
- timing service;
- refreshments along the route;
- final refreshments at the arrival;
- bag deposit;
TIME LIMIT 42,195 km
The maximum time limit to finish the race is fixed at 6 hours.
COLLECTION OF TECHNICAL ENVELOPE AND RACE PACK
The technical envelope containing the bib and the chip, as well as the race pack of the 42,195 km, can be collected at the organization desk open on the days indicated in the Race Program on the official website.
The collection can be done by proxy upon presentation of the confirmation letter with all the documents requested by the same.
CLOTHING DEPOSIT SERVICE
Participants in the Marathon can leave their clothing before 8:30 at the stand specifically provided by the organization in the Finish area. The organization accepts no liability for any loss of property.
PRIZEGIVING
The prize-giving ceremony of the Sanremo Marathon will take place approximately from 12 noon for the absolute (approx. 30 minutes after the arrival of the last athlete to complete the podium) and approximately from 3 p.m. for the categories (30 minutes after the arrival of the last athlete, or after the end of the time limit)
The first three male and female absolute finishers will be awarded, the first three finishers in the Fidal categories.
The winners of the absolute rankings do not participate in the individual category awards.
There are no cash prizes.
FAILURE TO PARTICIPATE
Registration is personal and may not be transferred to another athlete and cannot be reimbursed in case of a failure to participate for any reason.
AFFILIATED HOTELS
Affiliated hotels are bookable directly from the online registrations system of the official website.
PHOTOS OF THE PARTICIPANTS
A photography service will follow the race. Photos can be bought on site or on the days following the event.
FINAL WARNING
The organization reserves the right to modify these regulations at any time in order to ensure better organization of the race, after having communicated to and obtained approval from FIDAL. For anything not covered by these regulations, the technical statutary rules of FIDAL and of the G.G.G. are valid.
Any changes to services, locations and times will be suitably communicated to the registered athletes or will be reported on the website www.sanremomarathon.it In addition the documentation containing information essential for taking part in the race will be sent together with the race bib by the organization.
Privacy
With registration to the Sanremo Marathon, the athlete authorizes the organization with the treatment of personal data for purposes of the management of registration and related services (such as the official photographic service), and the timing service, the rankings, as well as the periodic provision of news about the event, the area where it is being held, and other similar events.
Image rights
With the registration to the San Remo Marathon, the athlete expressly authorizes the Organization, along with sponsors and media partners, with the acquisition of the right to use still or motion images in which the participant might appear, in all media including promotional and/or advertising material all over the world and for the maximum time allowed by law, the regulations and treaties in force, including any extension that may be made to the planned period.
